G8 Summit Message 2009: People First - G8 Asks for Online Public Comment
From July 8 to 10, the Group of 8 (G8) summit will be held in Italy, engaging world leaders on seven main issues: the economic crisis, international trade, climate change, development, food safety and access to water, health and international political issues. The summit is predicated upon one central message: people first.
According to the official site of the summit, it is essential that governments take a people-centric approach: “If we are going to make it through this [economic] crisis, we have to consider its social aspect and to place people in the center of government action by pursuing policies designed to restore people’s confidence.”
For the first time, an online survey is being launched to engage citizens around the globe, asking all to share their thoughts on the role of the G8 and the present agenda.
