World Pulse Introduces: Voices of Our Future Correspondents
World Pulse magazine has brought together a network of 30 emerging leaders who will “broadcast social change news from the frontlines of some of the most forgotten communities of the world,” as described by World Pulse. Correspondents will be receiving training in citizen journalism and empowerment mentoring with the collaboration of the Press Institute, OpEd Project and the Empowerment Institute.
Global correspondents for 2009 include women from Bolivia, Nigeria, Palestine and Nepal, among others. Correspondents will offer unique perspectives on the critical issues facing women in their communities.
In November, international judges, including journalist Mariane Pearl and Kenyan blogger Ory Okolloh, will award three correspondents a trip to the US to influence international opinion and action. One correspondent will receive a scholarship to the Empowerment Institute’s Certificate Program.
