Recently back from the Vital Voices - ExxonMobil African Women Artisans Product and Business Development training program held in Nairobi, Kenya, designer Michelle Malek Olson writes on her experience as a first-time trainer in an article featured in Washington Life magazine. With years of experience as a professional jewelry designer for Sax Fifth Avenue, Olson traveled to Kenya to assist emerging artisans with creating export-ready products that will appeal to a Western audience. Olson is a supporter of Vital Voices and the daughter of Vital Voices Board Member Marlene Malek.
