Rural Development Institute Launches Global Center for Women’s Land Rights
Formed to ensure that women and men around the world “have secure rights to land that are both legally and socially recognized,” the Global Center for Women’s Land Rights has been launched by the Rural Development Institute (RDI). Essential to addressing poverty and hunger, providing land rights to women has been shown to improve family nutrition and food security, lower domestic violence rates and decrease the incidence of HIV/AIDS. With merely 2 percent of landowners in the world being women, the challenge before RDI and its new initiative is sizeable. The Center will be based in Seattle, and is intended to “catalyze the global community around [women’s land rights] and will allow practitioners, scholars and others to share resources, strategies and interventions with one another and collaborate on shared solutions.”
RDI’s commitment to create the Global Center for Women’s Land Rights was featured recently at the Clinton Global Initiative by former President Bill Clinton. The Center will include an initiative to form an e-library on women’s property rights, as well as a global fellowship and visiting scholars program.

hi,
hope u find it useful to see that land gives mothers the power to protect their children and themselves
but, we have members who say that the law and even health clinics force them to expose their child to abusive visits or force child to have contact with their assaulters if these happen to be the father or grandfathers or foster parent.
religion sets the laws, and ensure that women and children remain objects to be traded for money, even it is the mother who supports the entire family.
overpopulation, and so, slave labor , results from the man s rights over child, so woman forced to have more children to keep family together , to obey the law.
mothers have been stopped from joining land coops by the fathers rights over her child.
please let us know if you have received solutions so we can informs mothers who contact us
since reality is suicide, or murder and jail , for victims of this widespread crime,
we hope this religio-legal problem is top of the list on your mind.
we thank you for helping mothers protect their child,
peace , hope
