About: Alyson

Alyson Wise is the Vital Voices Global Network Communications Coordinator, responsible for coordinating the revamp, re-launch, and maintenance of the Vital Voices web site and for network communications, including the Global Leadership Network eNewsletter, blog, online community exchange and ongoing engagement of the Vital Voices Global Leadership Network. Alyson joined Vital Voices as a Program Assistant in 2006, to work on the Vital Voices of Africa: A Pan African Leadership Summit for Women and Girls. Since this time, Alyson has played a key role in organizing the 2007 and 2008 FORTUNE/US State Department Global Women Leaders Mentoring Partnership programs and has worked on the Eurasia Leadership Summit in 2007 and Summit of the Americas in 2008. In 2007, Alyson worked as Operations Assistant to the Nike Foundation. She has experience in social work and has contributed research to World Pulse Magazine and PulseWire.net. Alyson holds a degree in Africana studies and French language from Sarah Lawrence College. She speaks French proficiently and has studied in France and Senegal, where she conducted field research on human rights education programs targeting the eradication of female genital mutilation in rural West Africa.
