About: caraleigh
- Caraleigh Holverson transferred to Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service from a community college near Chicago, Illinois. A 2005 Jack Kent Cooke Scholar and the 2008 Harry S. Truman Scholar from Illinois, she studies international politics with a focus on Africa and women's issues within international development. Caraleigh has also studied abroad in France, served as a research assistant to Dr. Charles Kupchan of the Council on Foreign Relations, and conducted a research fellowship on the intersections between religious and secular actors in the development field. Having tutored both autistic children and incarcerated individuals, she is increasingly focused on the role of education – particularly, the transformative value of educating young women and girls - in development. Here at Vital Voices, she works as a writing and research intern with Melysa Sperber, Senior Staff Writer and Editor.
